Union electricians that have lost their certification can’t be dispatch to contractors, while other electrician that have lost their certification will jeopardized the contractor by not comply with Labor Law 3099.
State Certification Failures to Date:
As of June 4, 2012, there are over 34,440 that have failed their respective state examination. That is 1,667 more failure since January 4, 2012.

The existing workforce must come up to a basic standard which they have not done.
A Need for a New Workforce
There is an opportunity for anyone that wants to become an electrician, and have the desire to learn. If you start now you can become certified in four-years or less it depends on your work experience.
What about the existing workforce?

I'm still waiting for the DIR to comply with the law. I have yet to see any continuing education courses. All that I have seen is the same classes that I already attended for four years.
ReplyDeletePerhaps their idea of "continuing education" is to continue taking the same classes over and over.
It's a scam. It just isn't worth it anymore. I'm becomming a painter, they get paid just as much as an electrician.
